Apple Smartwatch

Rumours of Apple releasing a smartwatch this year are dominating many technology websites headlines, and following on from our list of the best smartwatches your money can buy not long back, new excitement is starting to emerge with websites including the NY Times covering a story that Apple is developing a smartwatch with a curved glass display.

The smartwatch, which if released could spark the beginning of a new successful technology market, would compete directly with current offerings on the market such as the Pebble and I’m Watch.

Moving back to the latest curved glass rumour, and Nick Bilton of the New York Times reports that the folks in Cupertino are experimenting with a new wristwatch made of curved glass. It is said to operate on iOS and “stand apart from competitors based on the company’s understanding of how such glass can curve around the human body.”

In 2011, Apple updated their iPod Nano with a square design and small 1.5-inch display. Despite Apple wanting to pitch it at those on the go as a music player, the iPod Nano controversially found its way on to the wrists of thousands, as third party accessory manufacturers designed iPod Nano watch straps for the device to slip in to. In 2012, Apple updated its iPod Nano again, however this time the square design was ditched, much to the praise of music and media lovers yet to the dismay of iWatch fans.
