Apple finally wins multitouch patent battle

It has been a long time coming this multitouch battle for Apple (three years, to be exact) and now it has thankfully drawn to a close after Apple has finally been granted their multitouch display patent, giving Apple immediate rights over it, meaning other non-Apple touchscreen products which feature multitouch (Galaxy S II to name one) may be in danger of copyright infringement, and might have to fork out to continue using it.
TechRadar has reported that patent commenter, Florian Mueller, said that: “This patent covers a kind of functionality without which it will be hard to build a competitive smartphone. Unless this patent becomes invalidated, it would allow Apple to stifle innovation and bully competitors.”
