Apple now seeking to ban US Nokia imports

[ 0 ] Posted by on January 17, 2010

With the never ending patent battle going on between Apple and Nokia, it seems this debate could go on for ever – but Apple seem to have other ideas.

Apple have now filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission, which is an independently run federal agency dealing with complaints against copyright, trademarks, unfair pricing and patent infringement.

In response to Apples latest move within the patent battle, Nokia spokesman Mark Durrant stated that “Nokia will study the complaint when it is received and continue to defend itself vigorously. However this does not alter the fact that Apple has failed to agree to appropriate terms for using Nokia technology and has been seeking a free ride on Nokia’s innovation since it shipped the first iPhone in 2007″

To further a lot of peoples own personal opinions on this subject; that Apple and Nokia are like fratching children, back in December Nokia filed a near exact same request against the iPhone, iPod and Mac computer range < stating that their own technology had been infringed upon.

The patents that Nokia claim Apple has infringed upon are the ability to allow mobile devices to connect via GSM, 3G, and Wi-Fi networks.

In US and International law, whilst software patent infringement requests are generally very well debatable, hardware patent infringement requests are pretty clean cut – and very easy to patent originally.
