Apple to ship brand new iPhone 4 cases FREE, seeking quick antenna fix
Apple’s new flagship mobile phone, the iPhone 4, has recieved nothing but bad publicity –apart from reviews– about their new device which has had major stockists internationally in high demand, with not enough stock to cater for consumers.
This bad publicity has been non-the-less about antenna issues, which have been covered widely on Technology Blogged with no real solution to the problem. Now, however, Apple says it will make ‘new cases’ for the iPhone 4 which will ship with your brand new device straight away as a sort of ‘quick fix’ for the iPhone 4′s growing issues. Despite this, Steve Jobs said on the subject that ”0.55% of people who bought the iPhone 4 have called into AppleCare to complain about the antenna issue”. Hmm, what figures were you looking at Steve?
This ”quick fix” comes at the end of 22 days of Apple engineers “working their butts off,” according to Steve, with “physics” ultimately being pinned as the main culprit. Apple claims you can replicate the left-handed “death grip” bar-dropping problem on the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, and Samsung Omnia II, and stated that “all phones aren’t perfect.”
This problem Apple has faced has become a somewhat joking point amongst other hardware manufacturers, with Kevin Turner, the chief operating officer of Microsoft, quoted as saying “One of the things that I want to make sure that you know today,” he said, “is that you’re going to be able to use the Windows Phone 7 and not have to worry about how you’re holding it to make a call.”

It just goes to show you that sometimes when a company tries so hard to add in all the bells and whistles and be on top of the latest technology, that the simplest and most important things can easily be over looked.

I opted for the smoke screen case simply because it looks good and wont let any dust get to the back of my iPhone 4 (it isn’t hardened glass like the front!)
