Get a Mac Ad named campaign of the decade

[ 0 ] Posted by on December 14, 2009

The hit campaign from Apple which featured television adverts stating ‘Get a Mac’ has just been voted Ad campaign of the decade by Adweekly as it finally sums up the best of the 2000′s (a decade which has seen some great advertisement campaigns).

On the subject the publication stated that;

The genius is in the casting. The Mac guy, Justin Long, is a younger version of Steve Jobs who is casual and   comfortable in his skin. PC, personified by John Hodgman, as a rounder, paler Bill Gates, is a well-meaning geek with all kinds of operating problems. For Apple, the campaign managed the neat trick of making the brand look laid back and cool while it mercilessly skewered its rival.”

In other Adweekly awards Google won two awards for media and technology company of the decade which is a very high accomplishment. Mind, that is purely justified by their complete dominance of the search engine market which everyone and me included uses.

Steve Jobs was branded ‘Top Marketer’ with Youtube being branded ‘Top Website’. Can you guess what won ‘Best Product?’ Yep, it is the iPod (and I am not at all surprised) it was a true innovation and took the world by storm for that exact reason. Adweekly has gone a bit Apple savvy hasn’t it? Oh well. :) .

Congratulations to all of them.
