How much does Tim Cook earn? This much, and more

Tim Cook wage

Steve Jobs may have grabbed all the major headlines lately what with his resignation as Apple CEO, however Tim Cook, the man replacing him, deserves some time in the spotlight and what better way than to spill the beans on what he earns now. So, then, here we go.

Tim Cook has just been given one million Apple shares which analysts believe will be worth $384 million to him within the next 10 years. On top of that, Tim Cook’s salary as Apple COO was $800,000 annually, but that was nothing compared to his bonus of $900,000 on top of his annual wage last year. During Cook’s role as CEO of Apple whilst Steve Jobs took medical leave, Tim Cook was also awarded a staggering $5 million in cash and 75,000 shares for his “outstanding performance” during his interim role.

The latest move from Apple, where Cook has been awarded 1 million Apple shares, was apparently discussed by the Cupertino based company on Friday just a few days after Steve Jobs resigned from his role and recommended Tim Cook stay on full time as CEO.

- 1,000,000 Apple shares just given to him

- $800,000 annually (as COO not CEO) (around £491,000 annually, or £40,000 per month)

- $900,000 bonus in 2010

- $5,000,000 cash bonus during Steve Job’s medical leave

- 75,000 shares during Steve Job’s medical leave

Overall in 2010 Tim Cook’s salary was valued at approximately $59 million, which is enough to (pretty much) save 59 million children from Malaria, in Africa, working on the basis that a mosquito net costs $1 to get a hold of. With this in mind, though, it’s Apple’s money and if they feel Tim Cook is worth this amount, then so be it and good luck to him!

Why does he make so little compared to Steve Jobs?

    • Jakk says:

Steve Jobs (may he RIP) took just $1 a year from Apple as his wage because he knew he was rich enough, what with the amount of shares and cash bonuses he received over the life of Apple.
