iCloud Communications drops case against Apple

Apple has a ridiculous amount of lawsuits filed against other companies (Samsung, HTC and more oddly Fangguo Food Co come to mind) but that isn’t to say that other companies aren’t suing Apple. It was all the way back in June that we first covered iCloud Communications taking serious dislike to Apple naming their service iCloud (for fairly obvious reasons), however 3 months on the case has been officially been dropped by iCloud Communications in a weird turn of events.

The weird thing about this suit is that iCloud Communications had serious means for a strong case against Apple with one obvious outcome being that Apple change the name of its cloud based storage solution, but instead iCloud Communications have themselves changed their own name to Clear Digital Communications. It isn’t clear whether Apple has paid the now named Clear Digital Communications an amount of money for this, however the dismissal was sent over to the U.S District Court of Arizona and said:

Please take notice that, pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(i) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Plaintiff I Cloud Communications, LLC dismisses its claims against Defendant Apple Inc., with prejudice and without costs or attorneys’ fees to either party.

Hopefully in the near future we’ll be able to update this post with a reasoning towards Clear Digital Communication’s change of heart, but in the meantime at least Apple can get back to suing every other competitor against them *rolls eyes*.
