Five of the best iPhone Games you won’t put down

[ 2 ] Posted by on March 18, 2010

I have sat through a vast amount of iPhone and iPod Touch games, and this is what has resulted. Five of the best iPhone games you won’t put down is Technology Blogged’s definate list of the most highly addictive  iPhone and iPod Touch games right now. There is no price too high and no game too cheesy – in fact, we all love a bit of cheese, but never the less – the games below are the best of the best.

If you like this list, and the ganes on it, you can find all of them by just searching on your device for the title of the game itself.

Bloons TD (£1.79)

Bloons is a computer game classic. A strategy game with a ‘cute’ feel, you are offered loads of maps on various difficulty settings and your aim is to place ‘towers’ in various areas to pop the continuing stem of bloons which try to make their way out of the map.

As with the computer game, you have a varied amount of different monkeys including my favourite the ‘Super Monkey’. Bloons TD is so addictive that when you get into it you’ll find yourself playing up until the early hours of the morning. There are however quite a few variations of the game available for download, but Bloons TD is probably the best for variety (map wise).

Yeti Sports Lite (£ free)

Yeti Sports is yet another fantastic computer game classic. How I remember being at college and sitting through boring seminars playing this. Truly addictive, highly fun and an all round awesome game, Yeti Sports is a game which (if you have not played) will fill you with complete happiness.

Yeti Sports lite for the iPhone / iPod Touch gives you one level, the penguin snow whack. But guess what? The penguin can now fly! And so when you hit the little sucker and he goes off after yelling ‘Yippee’ you can tilt and move your iPhone / Touch to control him flying. To get the gold you need to get over 5500 :/. A tall order to be honest, as my best is 4277.

GT Racing (£2.99)

With over 100 cars, an absoloutely awesome cockpit view and the highly fun-to-drive Bugatti Veyron, GT Racing is the most complete racer for the iPhone / Touch. Not just default for tarmac, GT Racing has rally tracks and some fairly strange gameplay – Take for example driving a Ferrari Enzo on a dirt track?.

This racer is awesome. Although some instances could be improved – such as engine noises – GT Racing has a beatiful list of cars to choose from and an excellent (if not challenging at times) career mode with a full list of tuning capabilities and modifications. The track list is vast, the tuning capabilities awesome and even on the hardest difficulty setting it is not to steep a challenge.

Paper Toss (£ Free)

Paper Toss does not cost a thing and has three difficulty settings – easy, medium and hard. The main cool feature to this game is the fan which blows your paper ball to the side, and dependant on the speed it is blowing, will sometimes blow your ball miles away off screen.

Although a little bit bland to think about, throwing paper balls in a bin is actually rather fun > fellow office geezers know what i’m talking about. As you can see on the image, my personal best on easy is 40! Beat it and i’ll give you a backlink. lol.

MX Mayhem (£0.59)

This game has not really been publicised much. Download figures also suggest that this game is mediocre – an average attempt at a computer game classic. But the figures are lying. MX Mayhem is so much fun that I play it for hours > and not for the levels, ohhh no!

The best part of this game is actually causing your rider to crash, and by doing so seeing him fly in the air hitting numerous obstacles in the process. Whilst slamming in to these obstacles the rider goes ‘ahh’ ‘ooh’ and ‘oh’ before falling to a crumpled broken heap on the floor. Well worth the price.

I love Yeti sports myself. I have the paid version but just recommend to the Lite version TBH. IMO the paid version is okay, but the Lite version does have most of the features and the best level.I LOLLED when I played that BMX game and he fell! Funny as hell.

It pisses me off that none of these are on Android < Apple fanboys are just spoilt for choice :( .
