New Macbook Pro and iPad rumours; iPad 3 to be thicker, Macbook Pro thinner

The massive rumour mill that surrounds Apple products has been spinning some fresh content recently and these are all about size. Coming from their “most reliable source” over at ilounge, ilounge have reported on Apple and some upcoming product changes.
The main feature of these reports is that the Macbook Pro will slim down taking more of a Macbook Air form factor and might lose its optical drive. This is quite a risky strategy since these laptops are Apple’s premium laptop, and leaving it without an optical drive could be a bit too forward thinking even for Apple. This however could be a trade off to having an extremely thin power house of a laptop.
With the laptops shrinking Apple’s portable tablet device the iPad is meant to be getting thicker. It is rumoured to be getting an extra 0.7 mm thicker, this means that although it will be larger than the iPad 2 device it will still not be as thick as the original iPad. This is rumoured to be because the retina display that they have included in the new iPad 3 needs an extra 0.7mm so it can be installed correctly.
Another rumour that is included within the report is that the iPhone 5 will support a 4-inch screen that will make the device larger. This however is quite unlikely because Apple has built the brand around the iPhones form factor, but a 3.7″ screen may be on the cards.
