Zagg iPhone 4S invisibleSHIELD Review

iPhone 4S

Having just purchased my brand new Apple iPhone 4S, I didn’t particularly want the glass body of the phone to get scratched reducing the resale value of the phone as well as reducing the overall polished look of the device. Saying this I’m not a massive fan of iPhone 4S cases though, as they make it look bulky and take away from Apple’s sleek and iconic design.

Keeping this in mind as I was casually browsing the Internet an advert for Zagg’s invisible shield appeared, in the market for something to protect my iPhone I had a look and I have to say I was quite impressed. Being greeted with the video below on entering the page the shield looked to do an amazing job at protecting the phone from all sorts of aggressors. When the shield was removed the handset was completely untouched still in mint condition. So I thought I’d have to take a look for myself.

When the product arrived it came with a cloth to clean the screen, a tool to help apply it, and an application solution for the front and back invisible shield. On the box of the screen protector there were clear instructions on how to attach it to your device. As you can see in the picture below these were helpful and easy to understand.

When installing the invisible shield onto the phone at first it was surprising difficult to pull the screen protector off the paper it was attached to, this however is understandable and means that the item has lost none of its adhesive properties. Once it was pulled off from the paper it came on it was pretty easy to apply the application solution and then place the screen protector on the screen and align it correctly. As seen by the photos below:

Pressing out any bubbles

Once the screen protector was placed on the iPhone the provided application tool is used to push out any water bubbles left by the application solution. This works well and the screen protector smoothes out nicely ending up being hardly noticeable. Once all the water bubbles have been pushed out all you need to do is wipe the excess water off the screen.

When the invisible shield has been applied and all the water bubbles pushed out all there is left to do is wave a hair drier on its lowest setting at the device to speed up the process. Then the iPhone should be left off for 12 – 24 hours. Resulting in an iPhone 4S with a screen looking pretty much exactly the same as it was before with the only noticeable change being very slight ripples, however this is to be expected with a wet solution screen protecting solution like the Zagg.

Overall

All in all the application process was incredibly easy and this should hopefully prove to be a very useful tool, protecting my iPhone from scratches that it may have otherwise suffered. As for how the invisibleSHIELD looks, and it’s like any other screen protector but much more grippy and flexible, and overall I’d say that it is money well spent given the protection it offers both myself and other consumers.

  3. I’ve been looking for something to do a good job of protecting my phone, all I have for now is the original plastic (sad I know) so this looks like a great option and better quality than some of the cheap products out there.

Is it really necessary to not use my phone for 12-24 hours? Seems a bit tough to do, lol. Thanks
