Next Gen iPod Touch to sport 3.2 megapixel camera?

With the new shiny iPod Touch to be upon us by Christmas rumours surrounding the next generation model having a 5 megapixel camera have been crushed, with a 3.2 megapixel camera beng thrust in to its place.
Insiders have told 9to5mac that the camera on the next generation iPod touch will in fact only be 3.2 megapixels, with ‘similar characteristics’ to that found already found on the iPhone 3GS – suggesting that Apple wants to keep the iPhone 4G and next gen iPod far apart.
In a further and possibly more pressing twist, the same site also has word that the new iPod touch won’t follow the design lead of the iPhone 4 which sports metal and glass, suggesting a leaked camera-packing iPod touch (see image above), initially slated for release last year, will in fact be closer to the new design which is to land officially in 2010.
Gossip this may be, however expect a good two more months of even more hot gossip before this 3.2 megapixel camera gets the Steve Jobs seal of approval.

Just get rid of that chrome back and i’ll be a happy boy. I wouldn’t mind a 16gb version for the price of an 8gb one, though.

@gary agreed, that chrome back is the most useless piece of design ever created.
