Benefits of ISDN your Business Deserves to Have

[ 0 ] Posted by on December 13, 2017

ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, it is a digital, fixed line service that provides high volume, directly linked voice and switched data. Now why would your business need something that sounds too techy? Well, if your business requires multiple phone lines, or you’re working with multiple customers and have a whole department of support staff, then you absolutely need this.

Below are some of the benefits you can get from an ISDN connection.

Switched service flexibility. ISDN is an evolution of our public telephone network. For example, you can call anyone who has ISDN access in Australia, and more locations overseas. You can also make standard calls to any public telephone network, or data calls to recipients who use modems.

High Speed, high quality digital transfers. ISDN calls are digital from end to end, allowing higher speeds, unmatched quality and reliability of transfers and generally faster call set-up than on the public telephone networks. ISDN is also perfect for video calling/conferencing with both the flexibility of a switched service and quicker transmission speeds required for videos. Lastly, a single access line can simultaneously transmit data, voice, image and video applications.

LAN Interconnect. ISDN allows for seamless local area networks on a dial-up basis. Useful where there is low traffic required between two LAN’s for applications such as remote printer, e-mail access, and small file transfer on a recurrent basis.

Bandwidth on Demand. Slow connections begone. If your peak traffic requirements cause network congestion on your primary links anytime during the day, ISDN can be used to make up for the excess volume, allowing extra bandwidth on demand.

Video Conferencing. You can also use ISDN for seamless video calls to eliminate travel and expense involved with traditional meetings. Fully interactive conference calls is like being in the same room. Now your entire workforce will have no excuse not to attend any meeting. Problem solved.

High Quality Audio. ISDN means ultra-clear voice dials using its special communication software, making it the most ideal service for broadcasting purposes. ISDN also allows your staff to have their own unique phone numbers which can be dialed directly. This is called a Direct in-dial number (DID).

ISDN leased line backup. If a dedicated data circuit is critical to your business model, ISDN can be operated as an effective backup in case of communications failure on your primary links. The backup rate and repair time is also faster than traditional means, making it more viable for businesses whose lifeline is highly dependent on fast customer service.

Security Monitoring. ISDN makes security surveillance of remote areas a piece of cake. It includes enhancements such as remote zoom and scan. The live video link can be managed using motion detection.

Bandwidth on demand data networks. ISDN provides flexible data network for businesses who use large bandwidths. This means that you can decrease or increase date transfer capacities at will to multiple sites when necessary. The benefits of having an ISDN for any business model easily make it an essential factor to consider when setting up a company or improving a company’s production. It’s time you consider it for yours, too!
