Synaptics inc. Is hoping to make a big deal with its new concept phone aimed at individuals wanting a more ‘touchy’ experience over the latest offerings from the likes of Apple and Motorola.

The new revolutionary handset will feature new innovative features such as multiple interface technologies which include haptic feedback and grip and proximity sensors as well as a multi-touch capacitive screen (sounds interesting doesn’t it).

The fuse has backers whom helped develop it including Synaptics, TheAlloy and Texas Instruments. In a statement, Fred Cohen, the Director of worldwide eco-instruments Texas Instruments said;

The world is changing, and so is the way people interact with their mobile devices. TI is excited to be a part of the innovative Fuse concept that reiterates the significant headway we’re making to advance mobile user experiences. TI’s OMAP platform works in sync with these other impressive technologies to bring big-screen, life-like capabilities to consumers’ fingertips”

The Fuse is set to be showcased at CES in Las Vegas in February 2010.

I think that this concept sounds interesting and could very well completely revolutionise the way in which we interact with our mobile phones. Whether it will be kitted out properly though is another thing – and the main reason some people don’t get the iPhone for example is the terrible camera, and the lack of a decent external audio chipset.

Lets just hope it is equiped with a proper camera and a fast processor like the new Google Phone is going to have otherwise the new UI and user experience  could become jerky and lag.

Do you think touch screens should go this far?
