No, Your Pagerank Hasn’t Disappeared

I was really surprised when I woke up this morning only to find out that the pagerank for my dick blick discount and istockphoto coupon blog has disappeared. I was really devastated at first, as I thought my blog has lost its pagerank and might have been banned. I went ahead to check my traffic from the search engines and I noticed that everything is still going fine as always. I decided to go check my other blogs and noticed the same thing. I came to the conclusion that Google has already disabled its pagerank feature, but after doing some research on the subject I noticed that Google hasn’t disabled its pagerank feature.
What Happened to Pagerank?
Now, I’m very sure a lot of people will be running up and down with fear of what might have happened to the Google pagerank. A lot of people have even been speculating that Google will be blocking it for years now, and some people have prayed that it should be blocked. Those bloggers with good pagerank don’t want it to be stopped, since it helps boost the credibility of their blogs in the eyes of others. Either ways, the main thing now is to know what is happening.
Google hasn’t stopped the pagerank. In fact, pagerank is still active and healthy. The main thing that is happening is that Google changed the server URL of their pagerank, and as a result a lot of pagerank checking tools and services have been blocked.
How to Check Your Pagerank Now
If you want to check your pagerank now, all you need to do is to install the official Google toolbar. It doesn’t matter if you’re using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, you should be able to check your pagerank using the official Google Toolbar. If you don’t want to install the Google toolbar and you are looking for a way to check your pagerank you can use the tool at Check My Pagerank.

While you are correct that the Google Toolbar is showing pagerank right now, it does matter if you are using Firefox. All new versions of Firefox do not support the Google toolbar, which runs with Firefox 4.0 or lower (current version is 7.01!) . Rather than switch to an outdated version or worse yet, switch to Internet Explorer, I did some tinkering and found a way to trick Firefox into allowing the Google Toolbar to be installed in any version. I wrote up a short tutorial on how I did it here: http://www.landofjacks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=76. Hope this helps some of you guys, I was going nuts not having the PageRank displayed properly.
Thank you for that tip Jack! I’m sure lots of people will find that useful
