Christmas 2011

Technology technology everywhere, but not a drop to drink. We both know that what I just said doesn’t make sense, but you get my drift, right? With all the hot technology devices on the planet right now we as consumers are literally in awe every time we visit a hardware store, and one of the greatest things about this is that we get to have hands on time to pan around the latest devices straight of the manufacturers production line. I personally wouldn’t change anything about this, except one thing; it makes me want everything in that hardware store.

You know the drill – you go down to Best Buy, PC World / any other hardware store in search for a Toshiba laptop for your second half, and you find yourself not looking at laptops but browsing but browsing televisions, tablets, smartphone’s, speakers, iPod’s, eBook Readers and even vacuum cleaners (note: this wouldn’t be a good Christmas gift for the wife). This makes your mind wander to imaginary places, of a home you’re going to go back to which is kitted out to the max. Moving back to reality, and you just can’t afford it right now, let alone in the future.

To narrow down my list of must haves then I’ve come up with ten extremely hot and fashionable devices that I would simply love to have within my home or on my person this Christmas. You’ll note if I have any of these as i’ll provide the following ‘disclaimer: I have this’ within the content below, just to make things clear. I’m good like that. Read on to find out about ten of the most fashionable devices you can buy.

For the latest trend: The iPhone 4S

You may not think that the iPhone 4S is a worthy upgrade to the iPhone 4 (me included, aesthetically) however millions of people are going to disagree with you and buy this handset anyway, and why is this? Because having the latest iDevice is cool. To many people, having the latest iDevice will mean in their social circle that they are up to date with trends, know about ‘stuff’, and most of all are a modern human being. On the other hand, some people won’t find it so hot, but haters are gonna’ be haters.

To look flash:  The Sony Tablet S

You might say that there are more sought after tablet’s on the market compared to Sony’s Tablet S, however none of them look as good as it. Period. Sony say that the design of this tablet was drawn from a ‘magazine folded over’, and we have no reason to dispute this. The wedge shape of this tablet makes it really stand out from the crowd when amongst other tablets such as Apple iPad and it is genuinely a refreshing feeling the first time you see one.

For music: Dr. Dre Beats Pro Headphones

Apple’s white earbuds are out, and Dre. Dre headphones are in. It is just fact. On the London tube, I see maybe hundreds of people rocking red coloured headphones with the now unmistakable ‘B’ logo on them every single day. Whilst audio purists (and to be fair) music lovers won’t appreciate them for some varieties of music due to an overly responsive bass, these headphones are endorsed by Dr. Dre which makes them hot. Or cool. And buyable.

For multimedia: The iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is easily the most fashionable MP3 player to have right now, and everybody in the world has heard the name iPod once in their life. The iPod Touch is available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB forms. Of course, the 8GB one is the least expensive of the bunch, and the iPod Touch is also available in white and black. Prices start from £169 for the 8GB, £249 for the 16GB and move up to £329 for the 32GB. The iPod Touch is essentially an iPhone 4S but without the phone part.

For pass-time: A smaller LED TV

It does pay to have the latest technology, you know. LED TV’s whilst slightly more expensive than their LCD cousins are far more power efficient than the latter, and what’s more offer exceptional viewing angles and colour reproductions. Having an LED TV in your home is extremely fashionable as it is so thin, and will look the part next to your speakers and Blu-ray collection. Disclaimer: I have one of these, and it’s fantastic (mines a Samsung).

To wear: Tokyo Flash Watches

I’m all for luxurious, Swiss-made diamond encrusted watches tarnished in pixie dust, however i’m also all for some affordable technology. This is why, for me, Tokyo Flash is worth a look for anybody wanting to look different on the high street and draw attention to their wrist (you know, “Dude, look at his wrist!”). Tokyo Flash is very well known for their sometimes weird watches, and to prove this, just Google them to see what I mean.

To muck around with: Apptoyz Appracer

What gadgets list wouldn’t be complete without something ideally suited for the boys? The Apptoyz Appracer is a remote controlled off road buggy and fantastically, you can control it through your iPod Touch or iPhone by plugging it in to the supplied peripheral. Download your free app and use the accelerometer in your device to drive the racer using the left/right tilt function for the coolest driving experience around.
