DoCoMo smartphone supercharger promises 10x faster charging

I’m all for seriously good mobile phone accessories, so getting wind of a supercharger which will charge your phone up to 10x faster than a conventional one is quite naturally right up my street.
Unveiled at CEATEC 2011, DoCoMo’s phone charger is being hailed as an ultra-rapid rechargeable battery, making use of a brand new type of connection pumping the charge output to 5.5amps, as Techradar reports. But are there any downsides to this seemingly awesome phone accessory? Well, for one it is proprietary meaning you’d have to have a compatible smartphone for it to work, and for two this technology isn’t looking to be released any time this year. On top of that, the supercharger would also have to come out in diferent shapes and sizes to match the many different handsets on the market currently with the design shown off at CEATEC, which is not disimilar to the Juice Pack Air.
Overall we’re pretty interested to see where this accessory goes in the near future however whether it will be released to the public soon is anybody’s guess. Personally, we wouldn’t hold our breath for this one.
