Pentax K-r DSLR: Resembles a fire engine

Entry level DSLR cameras have their postitives and negatives, and as long as they look the part, can usually pass themseleves off as a much more expensive piece of kit for the amateur photographer.
However this latest DSLR from Pentax, shown above, looks so much like a toy that it wouldn’t look too bad in the arms of a child – in fact, this product would get a child all wide eyed in a shop.
Boasting the colours of fire engine red, and in places resembling a toy fire engine -minus the sirerns-, the multicolored Pentax K-r brings a compact, lightweight body to the entry-level DSLR market. Specs include a 12.4 megapixel CMOS sensor, a PRIME (Pentax Real Image Engine) II imaging engine, claimed 100-25600 ISO range, a 6fps high-speed mode, an 11-point AF system, Pentax’s own Shake Reduction and dust removal mechanisms, a 3-inch LCD monitor with Live View mode, and the option to source power from four AA batteries once you have used up the shipped rechargeable battery.
Not a bad toy, then. The K-r also records 720p video and ships with IrSimple high-speed infrared data transmission capabilites (sure nobody actually owns a gadget that uses that, but hey, were not complaining).
Ships October.
