HTC bringing Beats audio to smartphones in $300M deal
If you’re the kind of person who finds a pair of Dr. Dre Beats headphones all the rage right now, and you love HTC smartphones, then you’re going to literally faint with this news that HTC has struck a $300M deal with Beats Audio to include their brand and technology within HTC smartphones, meaning Dr. Dre Beats and Heartbeats by Lady Gaga smartphones may very well just be around the corner. As thisismynext reports, the $300M deal is in fact a full investment in to Beats Audio, meaning HTC will have exclusive rights to use the name on their smartphones.
Although exciting, overall we’re not so sure if this is a good move from HTC, due to the fact that very rarely do audio purists carry that many high quality songs on their smartphone’s due to them taking up a lot of storage and without high quality files, any Beats Audio technology benefit will be lost. We’ll have to wait and see what the next generation of smartphone’s from HTC will be like however if you want a tip, we reckon’ it’s all marketing.
