HTC WebOS

Here’s some interesting facts; HP’s WebOS operating system has been abandoned by HP, and HTC may be looking to buy it up, according to new reports from the Economic Observer of China and in an interview with them, Cher Wang HTC’s Chairperson said ”We have given it thought and we have discussed it internally, but we will not do it on impulse”. Cher Wang then went on further to say that “We can use any OS we want. We are able to make things different from our rivals on the second or third layer of a platform. Our strength lies in understanding an OS, but it does not mean that we have to produce an OS”.

The key word above there in case you missed it is ‘produce’, which Cher Wang openly said in the interview that HTC does not have to do. This has led us to speculate that HTC may very well buy up WebOS in able to be offer consumers even more choice in the smartphone market, however WebOS best sits on tablets, so it’ll be interesting to keep tabs on any future developments HTC has for software within its future line of tablets. Hit up the source below for the interview with Cher Wang as reported by Focus Taiwan.
