HTC Wildfire: The brand new ‘wild’ budget phone
The HTC Wildfire is the latest mobile phone to hit consumers in the face from the largely succesful Taiwanese firm, and is taking up from where the HTC Tattoo left off.
At first glance the HTC Wildfire looks one heck of a lot like the HTC Desire, but in fact is totally different even though both devices run Android 2.1. Where the Desire has a plastic frame the Wildfire has a lovely looking metal one, and where the HTC Tattoo’s screen sucks the Wildfire’s screen doesn’t. What’s more, the HTC Wildfire also has the exact same processor as the HTC Hero – and yet the Wildfire is a budget mobile phone which will appeal to the masses.

As you can tell from the picture touch sensitive keys are back in, and the design especially with that aluminium frame is a little bit HD2 esque. The buttons are reported to be more responsive than that of the Nexus One, and the Wildfire also features a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 384 MB of RAM and a screen resolution of 320 x 240, in a high-end smartphone these specs would be quite disappointing however as a budget handset this is quite exciting to see < and this no doubt looks like a true successor to the HTC Tattoo.

Perhaps the greatest step up from the HTC Tattoo is a capacitive touch screen rather than resistive one, which makes android a much nicer experience. Price wise no UK packages have been revealed yet, but I will keep you updated of these as I may have to buy one myself as an upgrade to my secondary phone the Nokia 6700.
For more specifications check out the official HTC website, and let me know in the comments whether you would every buy one of these mobile phones!

If anyone has been looking at the iPhone 4 and have been dissapointed as you aren’t able to afford it, then the HTC Wildfire would be great for you.
I was in the same situation and opted for the Wildfire. Here are some things that make this phone great for me:
- 5 Megapixel colour camera
- Social Networking features and apps
- Caller ID that shows the caller’s Facebook status and birthday date
- Up to 32GB of storage
- Bluetooth
- Friend Stream, which allows you to see all your friends Facebook, Twitter and Flickr Updates on one screen
- Automatic software updates
