Native Blackberry Playbook e-mail here next month with contacts

In an earnings call last night RIM let it be knows that their Blackberry Playbook tablet will next month receive native email, contacts and calendar apps in the hope to further sway clients over to the Blackberry side. Other new features which will make their way over next month include the BlackBerry Video Store and also the Android app player, a feature which RIM hope will entice Android users over. The move comes as the earnings call revealed very slow and less than ideal sales numbers for the Blackberry Playbook, with just 200,000 PlayBooks being shipped in the last quarter with the actual sales numbers being even lower. Compared to the Android market on the whole, and Apple’s iPad 2, this is small change and quite the disappointment given the fact that we personally like the Playbook.
