Nokia shows us Symbian’s future, world looks on and smiles
Curious about Nokia’s commitment to Windows Phone 7? Just take a look at the above illustration, coming from a Nokia slide show. It shows the steady but ineviltable demise of everyones least favourite smartphone platform in favour of the new hotness in the mobile market, WP7. You can’t say you didn’t see this coming, but it’s quite hard to imagine Nokia without that hulking tag-along Symbian bringing them down.
As you can see, there’s no time frame for all of this. But it’s only a matter of months before Nokia starts hammering the nails in Symbian’s coffin, which makes us wonder, is there any market for Symbian anymore? And just how many lower budget regular mobile phones will retain Symbian in the near future?
