RIM may sell Blackberry brand to Samsung Electronics
Well this is food for thought. What do you get when you take one smartphone and tablet manufacturer who’s sales have diminished vastly over the previous 3 years? Well apparently, you get news like this where RIM may be looking to sell up the Blackberry brand to Samsung Electronics, in a move we can only see as running away from a fight if it were ever to happen.
This comes from claimed insider sources at technology blog BGR, who reported RIM may be looking to shift the BlackBerry brand for between $12 and $15 billion with the company’s co-CEO Jim Balsillie said to be “going hard after Samsung” in search of a quick sale. Against these claims however, a Samsung spokesperson hit out at these recent rumours, stating ”We [Samsung] haven’t considered acquiring the firm and are not interested in [doing so].”
