Samsung Galaxy S II HD super-smartphone announced

It isn’t just HTC updating their smartphone line with awesome features you know, because Samsung have announced that they too are bringing out an update to their seriously succesfull Galaxy S II much like HTC with the Sensation XE. The update, fittingly named the “Galaxy S II HD”, is going to pack a collosal 4.65-inch HD ready Super AMOLED display with the exact same retina pixel density as seen in the iPhone 4. This new 1280×720 display, baring in mind the current one in the Galaxy S II “normal” is great in itself, should breath some added life in to Samsung’s current flagship smartphone what with Apple’s iPhone 5 launch imminent.
This brand new smartphone is also closely matched to the Galaxy Note.
With a display size of 4.35 inches compared to the Galaxy Note’s 5.3 inches, it’s hard not to be impressed with Samsung’s obvious commitment to close up every gap in the touch screen market. Also similar to the Note (or may be even the same) is the processor which will be a 1.5GHz SoC, however current specifications list the Note as having a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, possibly making the S II HD more powerful which would be odd. All things on paper however the new 1.5GHz speed boost over the previous Galaxy S II’s 1.2GHz means even more insane speed in your pocket.
Whether or not you should choose the newly announced HTC Sensation XE or the Galaxy S II HD is going to be tough. On the one hand you’ve got Beats Audio and a unibody design within the HTC, and on the other unparalleled speed and a retina display within the S II HD. In more ways than one, handset manufacturers have seriously upped their game in the last month and if you ask us, the next generation of super-smartphone’s is here. Release date wise we don’t have any real word on when you’ll be able to buy up an S II HD, but we’ll keep you posted.
