Any business in a market with even the slightest hint of competition will tell you how hard it is to get a stranglehold. There are so many different ways you can advertise your business and any market leader needs to be bang up to date with the latest developments. The days of billboard advertising are gone. Online advertising is extremely popular and effective today, and mobile video advertising is the latest variation of this to gain popularity.

Of course, video advertising is nothing new as it has been on television for years. Video streaming platforms such as YouTube and Daily Motion have also grown wise to video ads in recent years, and have started to show advertisements before and during their videos. What’s more, there are a wealth of ways on how to get more YouTube views for your videos. The rate at which smartphones are developing and their huge rise in popularity means that many people are now choosing to access videos like this on their mobile phone. This has created a new market for advertisers.

Even the mobile video advertising market has developed over the last few years. In the beginning, you were forced to watch a video advertisement of something you may not even have the slightest interest in before you could watch a video on YouTube. Whilst some advertisers still choose to do this, they now have an option to embed an advertisement into the video so that it pops up in a small box mid-view. The same applies for mobile applications. This way, the user doesn’t have the advert shoved down their throat. They can see the advert and choose whether to look further into it, or just carry on watching their video. There could be a debate as to whether this is as effective as forcing the viewer to watch the advertisement, and it totally depends on the demographic as to how this drives traffic and sales.

The developments in signal quality have also helped the mobile video advertising industry become more prominent. Whilst streaming quality used to be relatively poor, 3G and even more-so 4G have allowed video streaming on mobile devices become every ounce as good as on a computer. Better video quality is likely to increase the effectiveness of getting a message across in a campaign, and potentially lead to more clicks and sales.

Another important factor to take into consideration is the fact that near enough every major smartphone uses the Java platform, which means an advertiser doesn’t have to spend time developing additional campaigns for different phones. Most smartphones have a “click through” button too, which means that with one click they could potentially be on your page ready to buy your product or service.

With the potential to reach millions of new customers on a different platform, mobile video advertising is an avenue worth exploring for all different aspects of business. With smartphones being as popular as they are, the potential to widen catchment is too good to miss for anyone in e-commerce especially.
