Windows Phone 7 was only officially launched on handsets less than seven months ago across nine smartphones on 60+ network providers around the world, however one aspect has grown incredibly fast surrounding WP7; its marketplace.
Microsoft have said that they are currently approving and adding over 100 apps a day to the Marketplace and that over 50% of WP7 users are relishing in this, downloading at least one of these new apps per day.
On this CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer said:
Our customers get access to more than 100 new applications every 24 hours… More than 20,000 developers are keeping the pipeline full.
We have no specifics as to the category that the majority of apps are being put in, however one would assume a major category would be games ported across from Android and the iPhone.
Amongst new mainstream apps added to the marketplace include the official Amazon Kindle app, which is now available cross platform.
