MEElectronics CC-51P Ceramic Headphones Review

In the market for some headphones? Well you’re in luck, because MEElectronics shipped us some of theirs to review all the way from the USA, and i’ve been using them for around 3 weeks now on and off to try and get a sense of what they’re all about. Read on to find out my experience.
*Just for everybody’s reference headphones are one of the most annoying consumer devices to review when it comes to imaging them, and with this in mind, non of the images within this review are going to be of masterpiece quality although I did my best to correctly picture them to capture their design.
Review: Design, Build
Headphones are increasingly becoming a fashion statement across the UK and with this in mind I was looking forward to trying out the CC-51P Ceramic Headphones for the first time, especially to see if they can trump other headphones from the likes of Seinheisser and Bose in the looks department.
First impressions of the product were okay for me with black and un-inspiring packaging although upon removing the CC-51 headphones from their box something hit me; these headphones feel different to any others I have felt before. Cold and hard were the first words on the tip of my tongue, and the exterior feel reminded me off an old Rado ceramic watch my friend once had.
Indeed, this impression is in fact because these headphones feature ceramic build as a key selling point, and the feel of them instils a sense of massive quality from the product. Dimension wise you’re looking at 0.25 in. H x 0.3 in. W x 0.7 in. L.

The headphones we were shipped including a mic for smartphone use so you can ditch your crappy Apple earphones and the mic itself is made from aluminium making the product again feel of a high quality. Where as the earphone housing (ceramic) and mic housing (aluminium) are of sufficient quality though the actual headphone cables are plastic, making them not as durable as, say, the V-Moda Crossfade headphones we reviewed a while back which had kevlar wires.
Overall the design of the headphones are good and look particularly sweet in white, and MEElectronics also ship with their headphones a large number of different sized ear buds and a carry case, which you can see pictured above.
Sound quality, practicability
The one thing that has always nagged me about headphones is that the cables they come attached with are either too long or too short out of the box. The MEElectronics CC-51P Ceramic Headphones however have what I would call the perfect length of cable, measuring 130 cm with an attached dirt clip.
Naturally the one thing you guys are going to be bothered about is sound quality so i’ll move on to this now. In a few words, I could sum up this whole part of the review by saying i’ve heard far far better headphones and heard far far worse ones too. The MEElectronics CC-51P headphones are not the best headphones on the planet nor are they anywhere near as good as my main set of headphones, which are Devon’s, although they are good at playing back bass.

When playing out Lil Wayne’s A Milli the headphones performed admirably however mid range is incredibly muffled when the volume gets cranked up. Surprisingly these headphones were terrific at playing back Mozart and a bit of old ‘Boogie Woogie’ piano, however again if you listen to dance, trance, house or any form of music on the loud these headphones aren’t for you.
Pricing
The MEElectronics CC-51P headphones are priced just right in my opinion based on their sound quality and design, and come up at around $89.99 on the internet, although some websites such as Nextag do them cheaper.
Wrap Up
Based on their design alone and not including sound quality I could award these headphones 7 out of 10 based on the fact they don’t have kevlar wiring to stop breakages. Unfortunately for these headphones however the sound quality for me really let them down, despite the company promoting the ceramic housing as a true powerhouse feature of insatiable sound quality.
