Quillit Stylus capacitive pen review
Remember the old days when your touch screen mobile device ran either PalmOS (me) or Windows Mobile (everyone else)? Well, Proporta certainly does. Enter the Quillit Stylus, a pen with 3 forms; a capacitive brush designed for use with all modern touchscreens, a hard nub for those still rocking resistive screen tech and a honest to goodness, black biro, y’know, for paper. So is it any good? Read on.
Resistive nub
A little black nub akin to that you used to have tucked into the back of your phone, is accessed by turning the business end of the pen in the opposite direction you turned it to find the pen. It works precicely as advertised, letting you poke around tiny menu’s like it ain’t no big thang. Interestingly, on the (rather smart) packaging for the Stylus & press shots it shows this nub being used on a Windows Phone 7 device, an operating system which physically requires the use of a capacitive screen. Whoops.
As a Pen
It’s a pen, and it’s black. Writing with it is extremely pleasurable, thanks to a nice weight and a good quality nub. But yeah, it’s absolutely a pen.

Capacitive brush
On to our main event, the capacitive brush. I call it a brush because, well, that’s exactly what it is, by twisting the top of the pen a little bundle of bristles come out ready to swipe your way around any capacitive screen. In general use, we found the Quillit to handle itself very well across a wide range of capacitive technology, large obvious gestures (such as swiping across the screen) obviously worked better but I had only the smallest amount of trouble hitting keys on my Milestones on-screen keyboard, or indeed that on the iPhone (Xperia Arc, Desire S et cetera et cetera).
Wrap up
Are you tired of tapping your tablet? Prodding your phone? Touching your track-pad? Well, the Quillit Stylus is probably right up your street, the added bonus of a lovely pen and resistive nub only serve to sweeten the deal. If you’re looking for a replacement for that stubby old finger of yours, this is about as good as you can get right now.
