Snugg Jibitz Review

Are you in the market for a soft silicone case for your iPhone 4? Have you scoured the internet and high-street stores and even your mates cupboard for the perfect one yet found them far too boring? Well then my friend you’re in need of some Jibitz love, and Snugg has you covered.

Having reviewed a few Apple iPhone 4 cases since the smartphone launched, the Snugg Jibitz is the first iPhone 4 case I have personally reviewed in maybe 6 months, however in my time using it I have actually enjoyed it in a childish sort of way (we’ll get on to that). Read on to find out if the Snugg Jibitz is the perfect silicone case for you.

Design, Protection

Snugg shipped us out a blue version of this case which has a nice soft feel to it which is a true sign of quality silicone. The case itself offers a good amount of grip in the palm of your hand and a fair amount of grip when laid on your cars dashboard even through demanding corners. Now, driving your car on country roads at speed with your iPhone 4 on your dash isn’t recommended, but atleast in this test the Jibitz came out triumphant.

As you can see in the images provided of the product the cut outs for all ports and buttons are well laid out, well cut and offer ample space for ease of use. Inserting your iPhone 4 in to the Snugg Jibitz is a breeze as the case is highly flexible, meaning your mobile phone simply slips into its new housing.

All of the above sounds a lot like any regular silicone case let’s be honest, however we’re getting to the good bits of this case now, and hopefully like me you’ll see why I got a bit giddy with this product. Towards the back of the case you’ll find 20 small squares which are detachable (our stock squares were white, see images) and supplied with the case is a small bag of silicone square letters so you can spell your name out in a very fashionable and unique way (the bag of extra squares we received were Orange).

Removing and re-inserting squares is easy, and within around 40 seconds I had spelt ‘Jack’ down the left hand side and ‘TB’ at the bottom right.

Aside from the good points to the design of this case there is one minor problem that is evident from the moment you insert your iPhone in to the case and that is that it’s quite honestly a bit thick, and doesn’t really help the iPhone 4′s minimalist looks. This however can be forgiven because if you want a slender case you should buy a hard shell case, not this one.

Moving on to protection and as mentioned above this case is a little bit on the thick side and so naturally is very good at bouncing any falls your phone takes. Being made from silicone which is both waterproof and grippy also makes sure your phone repels bad weather, water splashes and doesn’t fall out of your pocket easily.

I do have to say that you might want to keep your case away from small children if possible, because the small detachable silicone squares could be a real choking hazard.

Pricing

The Snugg Jibitz case is priced at £19.99 and you can buy it via this link. I feel this price is competitive and in line with other silicone cases, and I would recommend something of this quality over a 99p job from eBay.

Wrap Up

For it’s fun design, good all round protection and the way this case made me in to a small bubbling child for 40 seconds whilst I spelled my name this product deserves an admirable and high score. Bringing aesthetics in to play one could argue that this case is a bit thick, and not entirely pleasing, however one could also argue that you should buy a thin shell. I’m also not entirely sure how long the ink on the additional letter squares will last before it wears off.

Overall I fully recommend this case, and I hope this review portrays just how much I liked it.

Rating: ★★★★★★★★ (8/10)

  1. Cool case says:

That’s one of the more weird cases I have seen that’s for sure! I have a hard shell like you recommended.
