There are many different types of storage available in the world including Drobo storage, SSD storage, cloud storage, however for average consumers only one thing really matters and that is “how much will it cost”?. Well in the Xperia world, naff’ all apparently.

In a purely time limited offer Sony has announced that their Xperia branded line of smartphones are to get 50GB of free online storage each, with the deal ending on December the 31st 2012. The online storage, coming from a deal with Box.net, comes as HTC made a deal with Dropbox to allow customers 5GB of free online storage in the cloud; it is safe to say though that the extra 45GB being offered by Sony has HTC firmly beaten in this area.

The free online storage will allow Xperia smartphone users to edit documents from any device, and retrieve them anywhere. This news and deal was announced via the http://touch.sonyericsson.com portal, and comes as Sony bought out Ericsson’s stake in the company, with the aim of rolling out Sony only branded handsets in the near future.

Hackers simply won’t give Sony a break, will they? First the Playstation Network was hacked and is set to cost Sony a whopping $170 million and now the Canadian online store of Sony Ericsson has been hacked, aimed at disrupting Sony’s overall business operations further. Sony has stated that up to 2000 users data has been stolen, however wants to re-assure user affected that passwords taken were encrypted and no credit card details were lost. All of this hacking is bringing Sony’s security network in to question, and with the whole PSN hacking still ringing in Sony’s ears, this is the last thing they needed.

In the world of smartphones there are two sides who hotly debate about which phones are better. For obvious reasons I won’t name them both (as it should be evident) however I will mention that the premium sector of one those sides is Google’s Nexus handset, which first became available to the world on January 5th last year (2010 for the time travellers out there).

The Nexus One (as it was so amptly named) was manufactured by Taiwanese handset maker HTC, and was widely regarded as the flagship Android totting handset of it’s time, summed up through its genuine exclusivity.

On December 6th last year Google then announced an update to the current Nexus One, the Nexus S, which was and is manufactured by Korean manufacturer Samsung. This particular handset received rave reviews from multiple websites, and featured curved glass for *face meet phone* comfort.

Based from the above couple of paragraphs, you do have to say that it is obvious that Google is running through a cycle of manufacturers to make it’s generations of flagship smartphone. So who’s next? Well it certainly won’t be HTC or Samsung that’s for sure.

LG Nexus 3(D?)

For me LG is going to probably be the next manufacurer in line to create the Nexus S. This is down to two reasons, first and foremost is that Taylor Wimberly, formerly of Android and Me, posted his farewell post on his blog, and dropped one last major “Android Insider rumor report” by saying this:

LG Nexus 3 with Tegra 3 by Christmas…

Now, i’m not saying that Taylor Wimberly is 100% correct, however this rumour certainly does sound tasty, doesn’t it?. Second of all it just sounds ‘right’ for LG to make the next Nexus, due to their latest Innovation in the Optimus 3D (Nexus 3D, anyone?).

Sony Ericsson Nexus 3

Another key manufacturer who could create the Nexus ’3′ is Sony Ericsson, who’s latest smartphones such as the Arc are wonderful looking, yet feature an operating skin which some people despise. The combination of Arc build quality and stock Android would be a sure win.

Alas though my friends, we will not know who is going to be the next manufacturer for Google’s Nexus, however the two listed above are hot favourites and for me, LG takes the cake.

Well well well! Sony Ericsson appear to have a rather sexy looking smartphone in the works according to these images leaked online, which clearly show a Sony Ericsson slider smartphone running Windows Phone 7, Microsoft’s latest stab at the mobile OS market which has recently seen a few updates for those that have gone out to buy mobile phones with WP7 already.

As seen in the images provided the device says ‘prototype’ meaning this is in development stages, however the device is also clearly a Sony Ericsson and runs Windows Phone 7. Sony Ericsson’s Android handsets have so far been rather underwhelming compared to competitors, so perhaps launching a few handsets running WP7 is a good idea.

Check out more WP7

If you think outside of the box for a second though something smells fishy. When Windows Phone 7 first launched a range of manufacturers got in on the WP7 act early to release mobile phones and Sony Ericsson were reportedly supposed to do the exact same thing. But they didn’t. Could this be the late Sony Ericsson smartphone which was supposed to arrive much earlier than now? Theres certainly a high possibility.

We’ll keep you noted.

Aside from SE’s big Playstation related reveal, they also dropped news on two new phones. The Pro and Neo, a 3.6 inch slider (above) with 8MP camera and a 1ghz processor and the Neo which can be plugged into your tv to act as something of a media streamer via HDMI as well as the very same 1ghz processor and camera and with a 2MP front facing camera thrown in for good measure. Both phones run Android 2.3 with SE’s skin on top.

In terms of screen tech, they’re both using Sony’s “Reality Display” technology alongside their Bravia video enhance which they say means great video and screen quality for all your media needs, which is what Sony is pushing its new Xperia line as. The ultimate media experience, just a little more mobile than you’re used to.

No word on when you can get your hands on these, but when we know, you’ll know. Promise. In the mean time, check out the Neo below
