Adobe points to Apple for the death of Flash player for mobile browsers

Flash Apple

In a recent rather revealing blog post, Mike Chambers, a lead product manager for Flash has decided to shed some light on Adobe and their recent decision to close support for the Flash player for mobile devices, whilst also stating that Adobe has a long-term commitment to desktops.

In his post, Chambers goes on to say that no matter what Adobe did, Apple simply would not adopt the platform and given Apple’s large mobile browser user base, this was one of the reasons a decision was made.

“This one should be pretty apparent, but given the fragmentation of the mobile market, and the fact that one of the leading mobile platforms (Apple’s iOS) was not going to allow the Flash Player in the browser, the Flash Player was not on track to reach anywhere near the ubiquity of the Flash Player on desktops.” Chambers said in his post.
