An iPhone as powerful as an Xbox? It could happen, apparently

Well well well, we all know how far mobile gaming has come on in recent years (Angry Birds, Tiny Wings come to mind) however when the dust has settled and your fingers come away from your finger print smudged screen, you have to admit that performance isn’t all there just yet.
Next year however may be different, because ARM’s next Mali GPU T604 chip is expected to hit next year, and ARM has done a couple of neat little things. First off, ARM has decided to combine the CPU power with a GPU, and second off all what that means is increased battery life and graphics performance for smartphones and tablet’s. As IT Pro Portal mentions, the next chip from ARM could make smartphone graphics on par with current generation gaming consoles.
On the decision to combine the CPU and GPU, ARM have said that “Although processor power increasing more and more, battery lifespan does not appear to be undergoing the same process. “Battery technology doesn’t have that [Moore's Law] sort of growth”.
