Asus wants Android for Eeepad, dumps Windows

[ 4 ] Posted by on July 20, 2010

After much anticipation towards whether or whether not Asus would be shipping their soon to be hot 10.1″ EP101TC EeePad tablet PC with Windows EC7, when they confused everybody by saying they would, Asus have now decided (or rather seen sense) that Android is the way forward – and have announced that Google’s platform is better.

Asus have not announced exactly which version of Android their tablet will run, however the possibility of a highly modified version of 2.1 or 2.2 is viable, and anything below that number would really not cut it in the gadget world.

ASUS are said to be waiting for Android 3.0 Gingerbread to arrive before announcing their next crop of devices at CES 2011 in January next year, and NetbookNews.de claims that company is using 2.2 Froyo for their prototype but will likely ship with 3.0. 3G versions are also tipped.

To be honest I really still see no use for one at all, I have a smartphone which does everything for me and is portable.

As long as the Eeepad isn’t a hunk of plastic then i’ll be a happy bunny! Apple’s kind of set a design benchmark for the tablet market IMO.

I’d dump Microsoft anyday. I’d also opt for steak over beef and gold over silver, it seems Asus feels the same way ;)
