In case you didn’t know it microblogging service Tumblr is growing at a pretty rapid pace and to give you an example, they bagged up 13.4 million unique visitors in the US in July, 2011 which is an increase of 218% on the previous year. It makes no wonder then that the blogging platform has recently received private funding in the worth of $85 million as announced by them yesterday. The investors which include Insight Venture Partners, Greylock Partners and Sir Richard Branson, have breathed new life in to Tumblr which has grown massively successful since it was founded in 2007.

As reported by Memeburn, the founder of Tumblr, David Karp, said in an interview that currently Tumblr was working on its “biggest project to date” which to us sounds very interesting indeed. He however did not reveal exactly what it was, leading us to presume that the recent $85 million of funding is going to play a big, expensive role in this.
