[Breaking] ‘Free iPad’ scam hits Twitter and Facebook

[ 0 ] Posted by on August 26, 2010

If you have recently seen a message on your Facebook or Twitter profile offering a free iPad, and clicked on the link with it, it is quite possible that some of your friends have fallen victim to the latest social media scam, which spreads through hacked accounts.

Twitter’s security-related services account @safety recently posted the following message to users: “If you’ve received a message promising you a new ipad, not only is there no ipad, but also your friends have been hacked.” Twitter also said it will be “sending out password resets to hacked individuals.”

Anyway, just to clarify, resist from clicking the link to avoid getting hacked and spammed to the max, guys.
