I had never heard of BungBungame until this past Tuesday night, while attending CES Unveiled in New York City. At first glance I just presumed it was another Taiwanese computer company using some OEM’s model tablets and the like and just having their name printed on the side. After taking the time to inspect their booth, I was rather shocked to discover that nothing could be further from the truth. This is a company that is using the latest existing technology to create state-of-the-art Android based tablets.
Now what I saw first hand was simply a physical mock-up of a product they are currently raising funds to manufacture. However, the company does have a line of tablets currently available for purchase throughout the US and Asian markets. Thus, the new tablet – which they are calling a smartphone – is not to far from seeing a release. So what makes this so special? For starters when its released it will have the following. I am presenting the specs in the bullet-pointed list for maximum effect.
- A 5.8″ 2560 x 1440 WQHD resolution display that utilizes Magic Wave (Touchless Gesture Control).
- 3GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM, and a Micro SD card reader that supports up to 64GB Micro SD cards.
- A ‘True Octa-Core CPU’, utilizing ARM big LITTLE technology.
- Micro USB 3.0, Triple-Mic recording, Stereo Speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, and wireless charging.
- 16 – megapixel rear camera complimented by a 2 -megapixel front facing camera.
- Connectivity wise, it has everything. GSM, 3G, 4G LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE,NFC, and GPS / GLONASS.
Even when skimmed, those specifications are quite impressive – especially seeing as this product has not launched yet. BungBungame has dubbed this “Project S”. I”m guessing the “S” stands for “Superior”. The Project S is touted as having a rather ergonomic design that uses premium cutting edge material to provide a luxurious look and scratch resistant glass body. It has proper smoothed out corners, so it might fit a bit awkwardly in the pockets of many users. Furthermore its quite durable as it complies with both IP55 /IP58 requirements to ensure a product is both dust and waterproof to certain level.
As of now the official price is supposed to be $299 – unlocked! Yet there is no official release date for Project S. BungBungame is currently working to raise funds for Project S using Indiegogo. So just how much are they looking to raise? $5,000,000. They have 59 days to raise five million dollars. When it finally does hit the market, it will be available in black and white.
