ChaCha Inc. Sues HTC For Trademark Infringement
Ahh the Facebook Phone. Rumours of this handset circulated across the internet for over 6 months and we finally got the real deal recently in the form of the HTC ChaCha, a small dinky looking smartphone with a dedicated hardware Facebook button.
It all looked so great until now for HTC, because ChaCha Inc. (Wikipedia link) is now suing HTC for trademark infringement in the form of the branding ‘ChaCha’, which ChaCha Inc. got trademark verication for way back in 2007.
Currently ChaCha is asking for money damages and a permanent injunction to prevent the ‘Facebook phone’ from ever coming to market with the name is currently has. The reasoning behind ChaCha’s sudden displeasement against the Facebook phone coming to market under its name is because ChaCha Inc. do not want people to think they are affiliated with the phone itself.
Crikey, I never ever thought that I would write ‘ChaCha’ so many times in a post.
