A cheap colour E-Reader that covers the basics, and looks great

[ 0 ] Posted by on September 24, 2010

The Sharper Image may not be the brand everybody raves on about nowadays, but back in August they announced their colour E-Reader, a product which looks rather tasty. The E-Reader is call the Literati, and is a $159 e-reader with a 7-inch color screen. The Literati device comes courtesy of MerchSource, and relies on Kobo’s very own  ebook service to get books on the device (which can be downloaded via WiFi). Specification wise there are no thrills involved with this E-Reader, which means their is no built in web browsing client, touchscreen interface or high quality materials thrown in to the mix. The screen also stands at a very standard 800 x 480, which isn’t too bad for reading.

Selling for just $159 (about £105) this E-reader is at a very competitive price, and doesn’t look to shabby either. On the official press release, The Sharper Image provides these features:

- A 7-inch color screen (creating one of the few dedicated color eReaders);
- Intelligent Wi-Fi connectivity;
- An overall beautiful design aesthetic;
- Portability and durability; and
- Inclusion of Kobo’s free reading apps for smartphones, tablets, computers and laptops mean that Literati readers can seamlessly switch from device to device and never lose their place thanks to a persistent bookmark.
