Following on from news that Comet, one of the UK’s best known and largest electronics retailers had gone in to administration, the official website is down and unavailable. Visitors to the page will get the message “Sorry is currently unavailable. Please try again later” leading many consumers to worry about online orders.

If you have placed any orders online with Comet, you should get in touch with customer services on the telephone as soon as possible to make sure that your item is still on its way and to confirm delivery date. Some items, however, may not be shipping to your door and in this case it is advised that you contact your credit card company for a refund or your debit provider for a refund under Charge Back.

Comet is the largest UK retailer to have gone in to administration since Woolworth’s. The website going down signifies another dark and sad day for UK retail, with one of the UK’s best known store chains looking as though it could close up shop for good before long.

Heavy competition from online stores and supermarkets are said to be the driving factor to Comets downfall. Supermarkets were also the major contributor to Woolworth’s closing, as well as a wealth of smaller boutiques on the British high street.
