Recently information has came to light from Forbes, that apple had made a massive 9 digit offer for Dropbox when the company was in its early days way back in 2009. The meeting was reportedly attended by Steve Jobs, which showed him having a personal interest in buying the online storage company for as we all now know the Apple iCloud service. Such a deal could have seen Dropbox gain users at an even more incredible rate than it has already, with over 50 million users it surely wouldn’t have hurt them by rejecting apples offer. The company’s co-founders Arash Ferdowsi and Drew Houston while being very rich men would surely have lost a lot of control over their company if they had taken this offer however.

This story came about as Dropbox recently finished a round of investing, and with a lot of buzz around the announcement it was finally released that they have raised a total of $250 million.

“The fresh money will be used for acquisitions, strategic partnerships and the recruitment of new people”. “Our goal has always been to build a service that hundreds of millions of people would love and trust. We’re inspired by the consumers and businesses who depend on Dropbox, and we will continue to make sure that the world’s devices, services, and apps work together seamlessly,” Drew Houston, co-founder and CEO of Dropbox is quoted as saying.
