Google + Branded now available for businesses
The missing long awaited feature of Google + has just been released which is the ability for brands and companies to make their own pages on the social network. Google + pages will let brands have a presence on Google’s latest social network, giving them the ability to share text, links, images and videos just like normal Google + profiles.
The business profiles will be able to be added to users circles just as the personal pages are adding a much needed level to the social network, now making it an excellent marketing place for all brands and businesses. Some of the launching brands are Pepsi, Burberry and Chelsea FC. It will be interesting in the long term to see if these pages generate a large amount of social traffic and also how it will affect the SEO for the brands in mention.
Another reason why this will be a killer feature in the search engine’s quest for the social space is the additional feature of Google + direct connect. Direct connect lets you type + then the brand name for example + TechnologyBlogged and then this brands Google + page will appear. This feature combines the social and the search aspects of Google very nicely.
