Google buys out Modu, expect mass Android accessories
Do you remember an Israeli company called Modu who ceased trading in February of this year? Well it wasn’t the biggest technology news, if we’re honest, however did you know that Modu holds the record for the world’s lightest mobile phone and the unique selling point to their past devices was that consumers could personalize their mobile’s looks and features by inserting unique phone enclosures on them? Well if you didn’t know, you do now, and Google has just bought up their patents for a cool £3 million.
Google has made little fuss over its latest acquisition, and has failed to state where these newly purchased patents will be used, however we suspect that next year in 2012 there will be a flood of Android accessories hitting the market based around Modu’s products.
