There isn’t much a company can’t do when you are worth more than, well, pretty much everything and Google has just bought up Admeld, a display ad management service provider. If you are unfamiliar with Admeld you can read a bio in the quotes below, or you can open your mouth at the fact Google just purchased them for a cool $400 million, in a move clearly aimed at advancing their own major publishing ad network, Adsense.

AdMeld helps the world’s premium online publishers maximize revenue from ad networks and exchanges, reduce operating costs and protect their brands from unwanted ads.  AdMeld’s real time optimization technology generates the highest possible yield from each ad impression, and its suite of tools and services enhance publishers’ understanding and control of their discretionary ad inventories.

In a blog post, Google said that “By combining Admeld’s services, expertise and technology with Google’s offerings, we’re investing in what we hope will be an improved era of flexible ad management tools for major publishers”.
