Google iTunes rival could be here before Christmas

[ 2 ] Posted by on September 7, 2010

Google’s much talked about alternative or ‘rival’ to iTunes is reportedly set to be launched and available to consumers before Christmas, with Andy Rubin, the man who brought Android to fruition, negotiating mainstream plans with major record labels, with executives falling over themselves to get involved.

Two inside sources claim Rubin wants the deals inked and the service primed before the festive season, which will almost certanly help Google shift millions more Android-packing smartphones with the lead up to Christmas, where the sales of iOS handsets will go head to head with Android’s.

Not wanting to sound too negative, journalists and blogs across the world have already deemed this software a failure due to iTunes’s mass dominance in media playback, although, a good feature the Google Player could have is an actual video player which works, and non of that Quicktime crap we’ve grown accustomed to.

Hmm, this sounds like it could stir up a lot of trouble among the music market, still, its good for consumers, as it means more choice!
