Google Loses Key Android Patent Dispute Against Bedrock

With all the power in the world and billions of dollars to throw at patent disputes, Google is by far one of the most formidable opponents one could ever face in court. This, however, appears to not matter.

Google has just been ordered to pay damages of $5 million to Bedrock, after they lost a Linux patent infringement lawsuit filed by Texas-based Bedrock Computer Technologies. Companies backing Bedrock includedYahoo, MySpace, Amazon, PayPal, Match.com and AOL. Following on from a post we recently covered regarding all Android apps possibly being free, the patent dispute that Google just lost surrounded a Linux kernel code that is being used in the Android mobile phone operating system.
