Google Maps Libyan Green Square renamed, Google backs Libyan Rebels?

Businesses don’t like to get involved in politics even under the table, however Google appears to have silently made their opinions known on Google Maps today after the location of the ‘Libyan Green Square’ was renamed to ‘Martyr’s Square’. The change to the location name occurred just a few hours after Libyan rebels took control of the square, according to an associated press report, and the name although only just new to Google Maps has been used by Libyan rebels even before they took control.
The location, imaged above, is an incredibly politically sensitive part of Libya at the moment after rebel forces stormed Tripoli yesterday, pushing Muammar Gaddafi’s forces back. Currently, the whereabouts of Gaddafi are unknown.
