Google Plus an early success, 10 million user mark passed

Have you tried out Google Plus? Do you have many friends on Google Plus? Are you reading this post? Well if you are (reading this post) then you’ll be pleased to know that Google Plus, Google’s latest web based product which analysts state is to compete with Twitter and Facebook, has gotten off to a great start after Larry Page announced that the 10 million mark has now been surpassed, despite the network only being a field trial. Adding to this, Larry Page said that:
“Google+ is still only in field trial with limited access as we scale the system,” said Page. “Users have to be invited, sign up with a profile in order to use it
“However, the growth on Google+ has been great-and I’m excited to release some new metrics for you today: over 10 million people have joined Google+. [That's a] great achievement for the team.
“There’s also a ton of activity. We are seeing over 1 billion items shared and received in a single day”
Although Google’s accomplishment of 10 million users is pretty impressive, it would be nothing compared to if Google actually allowed people to sign up from the outset of Google Plus going live.
