To be honest it only seems like yesterday since we first got wind of and covered Google Wallet on Technology Blogged, which is Google’s home grown branded up NFC (Near Field Communications) service which at that time was expected to debut around August. A month later than we initially expected, and Google has finally released its Wallet mobile payment service for the customers of US wireless carrier Sprint and the Nexus S handset, bringing with it partnerships with American Express, Master Card, Visa and Citi Group. Google Wallet is the first ever mainstream and brand backed NFC mobile payment system.

How Google integrates Google Wallet in to Android smartphones of the future is of particular interest to us, as well as when exactly it’ll be available to consumers in the UK and Europe. On the mobile payment system, Osama Bedier, Vice President of Payments at Google recently said in a blog post that; “Our goal is to make it possible for you to add all of your payment cards to Google Wallet, so you can say goodbye to even the biggest traditional wallets”.
