Google Wallet Official, NFC-based Payment System A Reality

[ 2 ] Posted by on May 26, 2011

Google Wallet

So it is finally official, and following on from our coverage the other day, Google has for real outed their very own brand new and shiny NFC-based payment system which has global backers such as Subway, Macy’s, Walgreens, Toys ‘R Us, First Data, Citibank and MasterCard.

The first handset to be available to use this brand new service will be the Sprint Nexus S 4G, however support for more phones is promised “over time” from Google themselves, although any generation of Android phone can use the NFC service as long as they have the app and an NFC sticker (the Google Wallet app itself will work on non-NFC phones, too).

Personally i’m looking forward to seeing real results on the streets for myself, and will keep you updated on any further developments on this truly exciting bit of news. In the meantime, head on over to this link: http://www.google.com/wallet/.
