Graphene could replace fibre optic broadband, and be 10x faster

[ 0 ] Posted by on August 31, 2011

How the world moves on, and in a typical example, British scientists have created a composite using graphene and plasmonic nanostructures which are apparently capable of capturing light and converting it into electricity incredibly fast and according to them, tens of times faster than fibre optic, meaning that within the next 5 years we could have broadband speeds 10x faster than they are currently. Oh the miracle of science, aye?

Graphene could be used in the internet industry within the next few years as scientists work on perfecting this new composite, and Graphene itself has its very own wow factor without even considering broadband; An example of Graphene only one atom thick has properties that make it 100 times stronger than steel.

What do you guys think? Would you like some Graphene action?
